Ada Lovelace (1815-1852) was a Victorian-era mathematical genius. Ada described how codes could be created using letters, symbols and numbers – which included a series of instructions known as looping that computer programs continue to use to this day. For her work, Ada is considered to be the world’s first computer programmer.
Ada’s contributions to the field of computer science were not discovered until the 1950s. She is now recognized annually to highlight the often overlooked contributions of women to math and science.
Ada Lovelace shows what women can do when given a chance.
